Now Listening to: Demi Lovato - HOLY FVCK 🎡

I read two books in a row and then stopped. I need to get back into it. I have so many half-finished books.

Today I learned the Plex has an ad-supported service and Comedy Bang! Bang! is available to stream.

Having day baseball on in the background makes Thursdays so much more tolerable. I’m going to be sad when the season is over.

I love how I close down everything before installing a macOS update and then when it restarts it opens up every window and app that was open before I shut everything down, but in a half-assed state. Great job Apple engineers.

I’m in Group 3 for my Playdate. At this point it feels like a lot of the charm and excitement has faded and that has certainly made me less excited for it. So much so I’ve even considered cancelling my order.

The Restaurant

I don’t remember the first time I went to The Restaurant. That’s what we called the Bissell Mansion Restaurant and Dinner Theatre when I was growing up. If you’re unfamiliar with the establishment, it was a restaurant located inside what is considered the oldest, still-standing brick home in St. Louis. It was also owned by several members of my family as far back as I can remember.

The house was built in what is now North City in 1823 by Captain Lewis Bissell. My grandparents, along with my parents, aunts, uncles, and family friends turned it into a murder mystery participatory dinner theatre in the 1980’s. I spent so much time there, especially as a child. I remember running around the gigantic rooms with my cousins every Christmas. I remember those same cousins telling me the small door at the top of the steps (the door that led to the attic) is where the ghosts lived (the mansion was supposedly haunted). I remember playing hide and seek and sneaking down a secret second set of stairs that entered into the kitchen. It was the ultimate playground for a kid.

Sadly, as time went on and the city of St. Louis lost population, business suffered. My grandparents died. Family members sold their remaining shares to my aunt and uncle who kept the place running. Eventually they closed for the business lunch crowd and only operated as a dinner theatre. Then came COVID. Once COVID came, the place shut down complete. Now, it’s for sale.

Even though I haven’t been there in years, even before the pandemic, it’s a place I will forever miss. I will cherish the memories I have of it forever (except for that summer I worked there doing maintenance on an almost 200 year old building between 8th and 9th grade).

Bissel Mansion

The Cardinals have a day off today and then play 27 straight games, including a double-header before their next day off. The next month is going to be rough.

I’ve seen episodes of The Simpsons but never sat down and watched an entire season. Should I start a binge of a show that has aired for 33 seasons?

Someone attacking bulletproof glass with a nail gun because a nail is not a bullet sums up the GOP perfectly. Dumb, stupid terrorists.

For All Mankind is the best show on TV currently.

Sometimes I give my dog a bone by laying it across both my hands, palms up, like it’s an offering. I’m also fun at parties.

I think it may be time to start watching The Great British Baking Show again.

This week is flying by so far which means it’s going to hit me like a brick wall today and the rest of the week will crawl.

First time I’ve not had my dog on my lock screen. It feels weird, but I really like this one currently. ios 16 astronomy wallpaper

I wonder how many in the GOP have been shredding documents and destroying evidence since last night. Probably the whole damn party.

I had a Bulls-Eyes (Caramel Creams) for the first time today. Why didn’t you all tell me about these?

Google trying to tell other companies what to do with messaging is one of the funniest things I’ve read today. How many messaging apps do they have again? I think I’ve lost count.

“Trump sold classified information because if he didn’t Hunter Biden would have stolen it. He prevented a crime. He should get the Medal of Freedom.” A Trumper somewhere, for sure.

I know of The Sandman but have never read it. Watched the first episode of the Netflix series and I’m hooked.
